All car rentals in London are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria for Hire
Renting a Vehicle in London
- To hire a vehicle through Car Hire in London, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type. A valid full driving licence is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you must provide identification, proof of address, valid payment details, and a security deposit, along with any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made easily via our website, over the phone, or directly at our London office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. Full payment and any security deposit are generally required upon vehicle collection. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is necessary to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at pickup; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please contact us if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability in London
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find full coverage details and any excess amounts specified in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial exposure. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for extra coverage. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of the insurance in place.
Cancellation and Modifications

Prohibited Activities in London
Prohibited Uses of Your Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to third parties or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, adhere to passenger and weight limits, and do not drive outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Liability in London
To the fullest extent permitted by English and Welsh law, Car Hire London assumes no responsibility for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, that may arise from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the last 12 months.
