Rental Terms
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking or vehicle pickup. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria for Hire
Renting a vehicle in London
- To hire a vehicle in London, drivers must be at least 21 years old, with specific age restrictions applicable to certain vehicle categories. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle type, must be held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of address are required, along with current payment information and a security deposit. Any further terms outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payments in London
- Reservations can be completed online, by phone, or directly at our London branch. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges applied accordingly. Ensure the fuel level is the same upon return; refueling fees will be charged if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please contact us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability in London
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in your Rental Agreement. Optional insurance may be available to lower your financial exposure. Be mindful that you remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Negligence or misuse will hold you accountable for damages, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional fees, which can impact your overall rental experience in London.
Prohibited Activities in London
Prohibited Vehicle Uses in London
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials or subletting the vehicle is forbidden. Additionally, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger and weight limits, or operating the vehicle outside designated areas without prior consent is not allowed.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations in London
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire London will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not exceed the total amount paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law in London
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
